UK Armed Forces Dressage Championships

By November 24, 2022 No Comments

Army riders once again swept the podium at this championship. With a new venue and over 20 service personnel competing alongside civilian competitors, this was both a prime opportunity to showcase the talent of the Armed Forces as well as up-and-coming horse-rider combinations from Corps-level teams. Army Dressage Team manager, Major Laura Mitchell remarked that it was very encouraging to see the some of the new Corps level riders take up dressage and hopefully look to be selected for the Army Teams in the future.

Army riders were winners across different dressage levels:

  • Novice – Cpl Gillian Gallagher (RLC) and Arctic Cello
  • Elementary – LBdr Liz Griggs (RA) and Harri Coeswen
  • Medium – Maj Becky Darke (RLC) and Nadisker

The overall UKAF Champion based on their accumulated points over this competition went to Maj Becky Darke. LBdr Liz Griggs trailed closely behind and crowned Reserve Champion. Fantastic set of results with both service personnel also representing the Army on the Army Dressage Team.
