Royal Windsor Horse Show Army Teams

The RHWS is one of the showcase events that the Armed Forces are invited to compete in on either Military Working Horses or their own horses. This showjumping competition is set at a height of 1.05 m with the section divided for military working horses (Mounted Units) and non-military horses from all other units.  The winning Mounted Unit (team) will be awarded the Challenge Cup and the winning non-military working horse team will be awarded HM the Queen’s Plate.

As a two-phase format (set at 1.05 m) competition, teams jumping in their order, followed by a break and a mounted parade past the Royal Box, and a nominated individual to jump a 2nd round. Winners based on penalties and fastest time.

This year, we faced fierce competition and were very narrowly beaten by  1.80s (!!) to 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in the team standings for the Queen’s Plate. SSgt Louise Hoyle was the highest placed individual and won a bridle, awarded by the Prime Warden for the Worshipful Company Of Saddlers.

Congratulations to the DATR Team for winning the concurrent competition that is for Military Working Horses – winning the Challenge Cup 🏆.
