Army Showjumping – Chepstow Int’l Spring Show

The Army Showjumping Team (including the Development Team) took part in their first international level (FEI) show at the David Broome Event Centre. With 8 riders and 10 horses it was a busy one, but the whole team had a competitive and educational show and already planning ahead to their next team outing at Hickstead in June.

NB: FEI level is separated into 1* ascending to 5*. At each star level, there is a further advancement from Bronze-Gold/Platinum.

Results breakdown:

  • Capt Zoe Andrew (R Signals, Team Manager) – Double clear in the 1.25 m, 1 pole in the accumulator (1* Gold Tour)
  • Capt Lara Dixon (RLC) – 3rd in the 1.10 m (her first int’l level competition, 1* Bronze, and placed in a class of 80+) and also stepping up to 1.15 m (1* Silver)
  • SSgt Louse Hoyle (AWS) – Low level placings and gained valuable experience in stepping up to the 1* Silver Grand Prix (1.15 – 1.20 m)
  • Cpl Chris Davidson (RLC) – Great rounds with invaluable rider experience across the Silver Tour (1.15 – 1.20 m)
  • LCpl Laura Charley (R Signals) – Great rounds across the levels from 1.15 m to 1.35 m including a 🥇 for her young horse in the national-level 1.20 m class. (1* Silver, Gold and Platinum classes)
  • OCdt Lucy Wisher (EUOTC) – 8th in the 1.10 m (1* Bronze) at her first show representing the Army Team including double clears at 1.15 m (1* Silver)
  • ATpr Will Field (AAC) – Great rounds out with his horse Dave after a quiet start to the year competing. They competed in the 1.15 – 1.20 m classes (1* Silver).
  • CoH Andrew Mancey (DATR, Development team) – Multiple educational rounds in the national-level classes with lots of promise for their next outing – 1.00 – 1.10 m.
